Clockwork projects

A few months ago my fiancé Nick and I made our first silk screen so that we could make t-shirts for two friends who share a birthday. I have a feeling that most people who try this catch the bug and it’s true of us too. This week I finally have time to sit down at my computer again and do some new photoshop work so in addition to a few new Animal Portraits I’m going to make some new images for silk screening.

I’ve started a new series combining two things that I love, clock works and pin ups. Nick and I are getting married this coming August and I want to make ties for the men in our wedding party. I’ve always been fascinated by the Peek-a-boo ties of the 40’s and 50’s so this is the perfect chance to make my own. The theme for our wedding is the 1930‘s though, so the girls I’m basing my pin ups on are old Ziegfeld Follies ladies from the 30’s. The front of each tie will have a simple clock work design up by the knot. The back of the tie will have something like this:

This is in a somewhat rough stage still, but I’ve been working on it all day and I wanted to share. I have three different photos that I want to do designs from but who knows, I may have done more than that by the time the wedding rolls around. Once the dust has cleared from our big day I’ll have them up for sale on Etsy hopefully in time for Christmas!
